Samsung Galaxy Buds3 FE Review — Premium Vibes on a Budget
The Galaxy Buds3 FE weren’t exactly a surprise. Samsung clearly wanted to bring some of the best features of the Galaxy Buds3 Pro to a more affordable pair of wireless earbuds. The result isn’t packed with every premium extra, but it keeps most of the features that actually matter.
First impressions and design
At first glance, the Samsung Galaxy Buds3 FE look like another pair of fairly conventional wireless earbuds. Put them in your ears, though, and the design choice starts to make much more sense.
Unlike the regular Galaxy Buds3, which use an open design without silicone ear tips, the FE model takes its inspiration from the Galaxy Buds3 Pro. Samsung includes silicone tips in three sizes, making it easier to get a secure fit and a proper seal inside your ear. That has two important benefits.
First, you lose less bass, so music sounds fuller and better balanced. Second, the earbuds stay firmly in place. You don’t have to adjust them every few minutes or spend your entire run wondering whether one of them is about to make a break for freedom.
In short, these in-ear headphones use the same slim stem-style design as the Pro model. That’s a smart decision. Design and fit are often among the first things that separate inexpensive earbuds from premium ones, and the Buds3 FE certainly don’t feel cheap.
Sound quality
So how do the Galaxy Buds3 FE actually sound? Surprisingly good!
Bass is punchy and powerful without overwhelming the rest of the mix. The mids sound clean and natural, while vocals remain clear and nicely forward. The treble has been slightly softened, which makes the Buds3 FE comfortable to listen to even during longer sessions.
Of course, earbuds this small have physical limitations. The soundstage won’t feel as wide as it does with a good pair of over-ear headphones.
Manufacturers compensate for that with digital processing designed to make the sound feel wider and more spacious. Small differences in volume and phase can create a greater sense of separation between instruments. And in practice, Samsung does a good job here.
Music has plenty of energy and depth without becoming messy. Instruments remain easy to distinguish, and the overall presentation feels balanced and controlled. For a Fan Edition product, the Galaxy Buds3 FE deliver a surprisingly full and satisfying sound.
What’s missing compared with the Galaxy Buds3 Pro
A lower price inevitably means compromises, and most of them involve audio hardware and premium extras. The Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro use a more advanced dual-driver setup combining dynamic and planar magnetic drivers.
The Galaxy Buds3 FE keep things simpler with a single 11mm driver in each earbud. The Pro model also supports Samsung’s Seamless Codec Ultra High Quality, allowing compatible devices to transmit audio at up to 24-bit/96kHz.
The FE model doesn’t support this feature. If you have a large collection of high-resolution or lossless music and want to squeeze as much quality as possible from it, the Buds3 Pro remain the better choice.
Other features you lose
The Galaxy Buds3 FE also miss out on:
Adaptive EQ, which automatically adjusts the sound;
wireless charging for the case — USB-C is your only option;
Blade Lights on the stems;
the Pro model’s stronger IP57 water and dust resistance.
The Galaxy Buds3 FE are rated IP54, which should be enough for normal everyday use, but the Pro version offers better protection for demanding workouts or particularly wet weather.
And as for Blade Lights? They look cool, but I’m not convinced tiny glowing lights on your earbuds are the feature standing between you and musical happiness.
For most people, none of these missing features will be a deal-breaker. They simply explain why Samsung can sell the Fan Edition model for less.
Which premium features remain
The most interesting thing about the Galaxy Buds3 FE is not what Samsung removed. It’s how much Samsung kept. The differences between the FE and Pro models are actually smaller in everyday use than you might expect.
Active Noise Cancellation
Both models use a six-microphone system supported by AI to separate your voice from background noise. That means calls remain clear even when you’re walking down a busy street.
You also get Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), and it works very well. The earbuds effectively reduce constant background sounds, making them useful on public transportation, in an office, or while traveling.

Excellent Galaxy ecosystem integration
The Galaxy Buds3 FE also retain strong integration with Samsung devices. Auto Switch can automatically move your audio between compatible Galaxy devices.
For example, you might be watching something on your tablet when a call arrives on your phone. The earbuds can automatically switch to the phone for the call.
It’s one of those features that sounds fairly minor until you start using it regularly. Then going back to manually changing Bluetooth connections feels strangely primitive.
SmartThings Find
SmartThings Find is another genuinely useful feature. If you lose an earbud or the entire case, Samsung’s app can show its last known location on a map.
You can also make the earbuds play a sound to help locate them nearby. It’s not the most exciting feature on the spec sheet, but it might suddenly become your favorite one after an earbud disappears between the couch cushions.
Galaxy AI
Samsung also includes integration with Galaxy AI. The Galaxy Buds3 FE can work with features such as real-time Interpreter mode and Samsung’s integration with the Gemini assistant.
These aren't necessarily reasons to buy the earbuds on their own, but if you own a Samsung smartphone, they help make the Buds3 FE feel like a proper part of the wider Samsung Galaxy ecosystem rather than a stripped-down budget accessory.
The biggest strengths of the Galaxy Buds3 FE
Interestingly, there are a couple of areas where I actually prefer the FE model. The first is the matte gray finish. In my opinion, it’s one of the best-looking colors in the entire Galaxy Buds lineup. It’s subtle, modern, and — more importantly — much less likely to become covered in fingerprints than glossy finishes.
The second advantage is more practical: battery life. Samsung rates the Galaxy Buds3 FE for up to 30 hours of total listening time with the charging case, giving them excellent endurance for wireless earbuds.
That makes them particularly attractive if you travel frequently — or if your usual charging strategy is remembering that batteries exist when the warning notification appears. Just remember, they don’t support wireless charging, so your typical USB-C charger is what you need.
Galaxy Buds3 FE vs. Buds3 Pro — which should you buy
The Samsung Galaxy Buds3 FE prove that sometimes less really can be more. Samsung removed some premium extras but kept most of the features that matter in everyday use. The Buds3 FE are comfortable, sound good, provide effective noise cancellation, and integrate extremely well with Galaxy devices.
The Buds3 Pro are still the better option if you want the best possible sound quality, higher-resolution audio support, stronger water resistance, wireless charging, and Samsung’s complete premium feature set. But not everyone needs those extras.
If you mainly want reliable wireless earbuds with good sound, strong ANC, long battery life, and excellent Samsung ecosystem integration, the Galaxy Buds3 FE offer most of the Pro experience at a lower price.
